Emergency Evacuation Procedures – Upper Level

Emergency Procedures - Kids Ministry
At the sound of an alarm at Redeemer City Church, please know that your child is safe and that their teachers will be following evacuation procedures that have been practised!!
In the event of an emergency, the best thing you can do for your child is to remain calm, follow the upper level evacuation procedures, and know that your child is doing the same with their teachers on the lower level.
Trying to reach your child before exiting the building will impede the work of the ushers and Kids Ministry staff and volunteers.
At the sound of an alarm:
Volunteers will take their attendance clipboards and guide their classes to their designated fire exits. Toddlers and younger children will hold on to a safety rope to stay with their class leader.
Security volunteers will check the washrooms, then assist the nursery volunteers with evacuating babies.
All classes will meet at their designated safe point at the school playground directly behind the church. Volunteers will take attendance and ensure all children are accounted for.
Children will be released to their parents through regular sign-out procedures only if it is deemed unsafe to re-enter the building. If it is safe to re-enter the building, programming will resume and you can sign out your child after the service as usual.
Tips:
Ensure your child comes to class with shoes on. During winter weather, you are encouraged to bring indoor shoes for your child to wear to class.
Leave infant car seats in the designated area outside the nursery room so that it’s easier for volunteers to evacuate in an emergency.
